Flu Season is Here
Colds VS. Flu
Both the common cold and the flu are respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses. Generally speaking, the flu is much more severe and may result in serious health issues. Since colds, flu & now, COVID-19, share many of the same symptoms, it can be impossible to identify which you may have without a proper test. A key differentiator is that there is often a loss of taste and/or smell. Also with COVID, symptoms tend to appear roughly five days after exposure. With the flu, symptoms can appear anywhere between one and four days.
Flu Prevention
The influenza virus alters in form every year. It is highly recommended that adults and children receive the flu vaccine on a yearly basis to aid in flu prevention. Med1Cares’ team of nursing professionals can provide the necessary vaccines to all home healthcare patients in the comfort of your own home. If you do not feel well, you should stay home. The virus can spread rapidly and is contagious if not treated. Be sure to stay hydrated, thoroughly wash your hands and do not share food or drink.
